The Tiptop 207t ushers in a contemporary take on the iconic Don Buchla 207 Mixer/Preamplifier, a staple of the 1970s 200 Series. This stereo mixer, integrated with a high-quality preamp, is engineered to amplify external instruments and microphones, showcasing its versatility in any modular synthesizer ensemble. It boasts a six-channel mixing capability, enriched with a plethora of signal routing alternatives. This includes the innovative feature of directing channels to both monitor and left/right (L&R) signal outputs, accompanied by individual control over each channel’s volume and stereo positioning.

Each channel is equipped with a “Mon” switch, enabling the redirection of signals to the monitor outputs. These outputs are designed to deliver a constant, full-volume mono signal, ideal for straightforward monitoring tasks or basic mix setups. Conversely, the “Prog” switch channels the audio to the L&R outputs, where its volume can be fine-tuned via the Level Adjustment slider and its stereo placement managed through the Channel Assignment knobs. Notably, channels one and six are enhanced with voltage-controlled panning capabilities, offering dynamic spatial audio effects. These particular channels default to a hard-panned state in the absence of CV input, adding a layer of creative control to the user’s sonic palette.
